Join Abb Vie’s Analytical Development team and gain hands‑on experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Our team develops and applies analytical methods to ensure drug substance and product quality throughout all stages of development and manufacturing. We are seeking a highly motivated Co‑Op to join the Analytical Characterization Group (ACG) within the Analytical Development Department. ACG focuses on providing routine, investigative, and in‑depth characterization analyses of Abb Vie’s biologics to support product and process development for early‑phase, late‑phase, and commercial programs using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC‑MS), spectroscopy and various other biophysical assays.
Key Responsibilities- Build and validate targeted mass spectrometry assays for small molecules in cell culture media.
- Establish and document targeted LC‑MS workflows and a metabolite library.
- Optimize, organize, and analyze experimental data for process monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Work closely with Cell Culture Development to deploy established methods that support ongoing cell culture initiatives.
- Generate and communicate precise, reliable, and reproducible data in a timely manner.
- Organize and document experiments and results in an electronic laboratory notebook.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master’s in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related fields.
- Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the co‑op.
- Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027.
- Excellent written communication, oral communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Hardworking and motivated to drive both efficiency and quality.
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and appropriate handling of materials.
- Familiarity with good lab practice to ensure compliance in all laboratory activities. Commit to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Being adaptable to challenges, flexible and able to quickly adjust when the outcome of study deviates from initial design.
- Devotion to continuous learning of new knowledge and technologies.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to collaborate in a team.
