Overview
This is an open and continuous posting for Full-Time and Part-Time positions on multiple shifts throughout the North Central MA Area of the Central/Western Region of DDS. The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks caring and compassionate applicants for the role of Direct Care Worker I who are committed to building meaningful relationships and providing outstanding care and service. The Direct Care Worker role provides programmatic direct care services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, in an environment aligned with participants' daily living needs and community life skills.

LocationsDirect Care Worker IPOSITIONS AVAILABLE IN THE FOLLOWING NORTH CENTRAL MA AREA CITIES & TOWNS:
Athol, Baldwinville, Barre, Clinton, Gardner, Holden, Hubbardston, Orange, Phillipston, Rutland, South Barre, Templeton, Worcester.
- Provide support to individuals by assisting in the development and implementation of habilitative, behavioral and recreational programs in accordance with the Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives.
- Coordinate with direct supervisors to ensure successful ISP implementation, use of appropriate methods, coordination of services and crisis intervention.
- Assist and facilitate activities of daily living, including household maintenance, self-care and hygiene, food shopping and preparation, budgeting, leisure activities and social skill development.
- Attend individuals' review meetings and accompany them to appointments; transport individuals to work, recreational activities, and other engagements as needed.
- Maintain individuals' confidentiality and records; preserve individuals' human rights by complying with applicable laws and regulations.
- Ability to develop and maintain respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationships with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Capacity to assist or lift individuals with physical disabilities and/or limited mobility.
- Aptitude to transcribe, read and comprehend English.
- Possess a current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Applicants must pass the Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification.
- After completion of training, incumbents must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
DDS fills this entry-level position on an ongoing basis as staff turnover and new program development occur. Full and part-time positions are available on various shifts; many require weekend work with two days off midweek. This is a 24-hour/7-day-a-week staff position and may require mandatory overtime when circumstances dictate.
This position is designated as an EMERGENCY position in the DDS Emergency Plan. When the Governor declares a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work.
All employees are paid bi-weekly and must have direct deposit.

Salary placement is determined by experience and education and aligned with HRD Hiring Guidelines. For bargaining unit positions, compensation follows the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
