Compensation
MinUSD $21.00/Hr.
Bonus $2,500 (50% paid at 6 months and 50% paid at 12 months)
Responsibilities- Insure the safety and supervision of staff and youth, actively watching and engaging therapeutically, taking corrective action to mitigate safety risks, and reporting immediate concerns to the Milieu Coordinator, next level manager, or Administrator on Call.
- Cultivate a therapeutic milieu and maintain daily programming schedule, ensuring the shift routine is followed, and role‑modeling and promoting client’s:
- Social growth and connection, building social skills
- Emotional expression and learning self‑regulation
- Positive behavior
- Improvement in overall functioning
- Cultivate a team of professional staff, ensuring residential counselors:
- Have been provided any critical and necessary updates and information through consistent shift changes and updated shift documentation.
- Have been provided with any specific shift assignment.
- Are well‑trained for their role and receive coaching, support, and feedback.
- Work cohesively with one another, addressing any issues between staff as they arise, and model and promote teamwork.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries while developing supportive professional relationships with staff and youth:
- Physical boundaries: monitor and maintain appropriate physical boundaries with staff and clients, and between staff and clients.
- Emotional boundaries: respect trauma histories and ensure staff do not discuss personal histories with or around clients.
- Logistical boundaries: double‑check clients’ permissions granted.
- Informational/privacy: protect client confidentiality and practice HIPAA; ensure staff discuss specific client information only behind a closed door.
- Staff‑to‑staff boundaries: maintain collegial and professional interactions between coworkers, ensuring the shift remains in ratio. Notify the milieu coordinator/manager/administrator on call if ratio is not met and take steps to call in relief staff.
- Staff to providers/caregivers: introduce yourself and be warm and professional to all other coworkers, visitors, and family members.
- Participate in the upkeep and cleanliness of the facility, proactively managing daily upkeep, modeling and assisting staff and youth in completing chores, ensuring programmatic room checks, house chores, youth chores, etc., support youth in laundry, and support in meal preparation as needed/required.
- Document client care, including:
- Reviewing and/or familiarizing with clients’ reason for intake and treatment plans.
- Completing “shift notes” for all shifts at Wetzel, STARR, and Teen Parent Programs, and third shift at Oxford and Grafton House.
- Completing “Rehab option notes” after first and second shifts at Oxford and Grafton House, or when rehabilitation services occur at night.
- Completing shift logs after each shift.
- Documenting medication administration.
- Being aware of safety plans and special programming (meal charts, sleep charts, etc.).
- Completing incident reports as instructed or as needed.
- Uphold client confidentiality and maintain HIPAA requirements.
- Understand program/agency policies and procedures, maintaining up‑to‑date certifications in:
- CPI/De‑escalation and Physical Management
- First Aid, CPR, and use of Universal Precaution
- Medication Management and/or MAP
- Van Safety/Drivers Safety
- Be a reliable and positive leader and team member, arriving on time to all shifts, attending required meetings and supervisions, bringing concerns directly to the milieu coordinator or manager, and viewing clients in a strengths‑based, trauma‑informed, and culturally‑responsive manner.
- In the therapeutic milieu, try to prevent crisis through intervention, following the approved agency behavior management model (CPI) and focusing on verbally de‑escalating crisis situations, and if necessary utilizing agency physical management interventions.
- Conduct intakes and implement therapeutic treatment plans for clients.
- Observe client functioning and report any medical, psychological, and/or social/behavioral information to the clinical team.
