Mascot Team Member

Overview

The Worcester Red Sox are recruiting kind, compassionate, friendly, energetic, and proactive individuals to be a part of our Mascot Team. As a member of the Worcester Red Sox organization, you are an integral piece to the overall fan experience at Polar Park and at all community appearances.

• Perform at several designated appearances, including but not limited to Woo Sox baseball games, partnership visits, school visits, birthday parties, charitable events, and for-profit events
• Represent the Worcester Red Sox in a professional manner at all times
• Engage with guests and fans at Polar Park, corporate settings, and community events, among other opportunities that come up
• Work in a team setting and enact the Woo Sox “Fans First” culture
• As a Mascot Handler, adhere to protecting and attending to your assigned mascot at all times
• Ensure mascot suits are clean, presentable, and are left properly stored and in good condition after use
• Adhere to professionalism policies, including confidentiality regarding the organization and its practices; specific confidentiality regarding your role on the mascot team with those outside the organization

• Two to four years of experience as a sports mascot, OR an eagerness to go through mascot training
• Strong communication and guest service skills
• Ability to interact with and entertain a crowd of all ages
• Ability to work flexible hours in a part-time role on weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and holidays
• Willingness to be trained, coached, and critiqued to perform “in character”
• Must be physically able to perform under extreme temperature conditions
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the ballpark
• Stamina to maintain a positive, proactive attitude in variable weather and potentially long games or external Mascot Appearances
• Willingness to wear more than six different mascot suits, and flexibility to act in accordance with myriad Woo Sox mascot character personalities
• Candidates must possess a strict adherence to “character integrity,” restricting themselves from talking or otherwise acting outside of their character personality while in suit
• Ability to physically perform in high-pressure situations, including the Woo Sox Mascot Races
• Ability to perceive social signals in hectic and crowded settings to ensure the safety of team members
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

• A love of baseball, and an understanding of how the game works
• Proficiency with traditional social media, including Instagram, and X
