Our client, a well-established manufacturing company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer responsible for the design, development, and optimization of tooling, fixtures, jigs, and dies that support metal stamping and related manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities- Design and develop production tooling using CAD software (e.g., Solid Works or comparable platforms) to meet customer and internal specifications.
- Create detailed drawings and documentation to support tool fabrication and modification.
- Design tooling for sheet metal punching, forming, and fabrication processes.
- Partner with tool room, maintenance, and production teams to improve safety, quality, and process efficiency.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of tooling and manufacturing issues.
- Provide tooling concepts and layouts to support cost estimating and new product quotations.
- Support new product introductions by designing, validating, and launching required tooling.
- Oversee tooling repairs, modifications, and improvements to extend tool life and enhance performance.
- Ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with shop capabilities and engineering standards.
- Participate in internal and customer design reviews as required.
- Identify and implement process improvement, cost reduction, and cycle time optimization opportunities.
- Maintain accurate tooling documentation, revision control, and records.
- Develop and update work instructions and process documentation to support quality and operational requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tooling design within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Experience designing fixtures, jigs, dies, and other production tooling.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and shop floor personnel.
