Weston & Sampson is seeking a mid‑career HVAC Engineer 5-15 years of experience to join our MEP team in any Weston & Sampson New England office. This is an opportunity for a motivated professional to take on more responsibility in projects and be a significant contributor to shaping the company’s future.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a multi‑discipline professional engineering firm involved in the production of contract drawings for the construction industry.
A thorough understanding of air‑side, hydronic, steam, and BAC systems as they pertain to HVAC and/or central plant systems is required. Candidate shall demonstrate a working knowledge of ASHRAE design and energy standards as well as building codes.
A successful candidate must be capable of working independently with minimal oversight, initiate detailed coordination with other building systems disciplines, and be able to take mechanical concepts to implementation.
What You’ll Do- Engineering and design documentation for both new and renovation projects for a variety of facility types within the private, public, federal, and municipal sectors.
- Design will include field investigation of existing facilities, shop drawing review, generation of reports, and production of contract drawings.
- Perform HVAC and energy calculations compliant with local regulations including building load, pump sizing, and energy computer modeling (Carrier HAP or similar).
- Coordinating with multi‑disciplinary personnel located in both local and regional offices, sub‑consultants, utility companies, equipment vendors, and clients.
- Work both independently and as part of a multidiscipline team.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- PE license or ability to obtain a PE in any state in the United States
- Minimum of 5-15 years of relevant mechanical design and/or energy related experience
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) and ability to remain organized with multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Active member of relevant industry associations.
- High ethical standards, commitment to producing high‑quality deliverables, teamwork, respect, and integrity.
- Capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously and directing and overseeing junior staff work on same projects.
- Capable of working safely at job sites in and around large mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Revit 3D experience (or similar) and AutoCAD.
- Able to travel locally in New England and occasionally the east coast of the USA for project meetings and site investigation.
- Valid driver’s license.
Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000 depending on experience
