Senior Structural Engineer – Part Time
Join VHB’s structural engineering group as a Senior Structural Engineer on a temp/flexible basis. The role supports the planning, analysis, and design of a diverse portfolio of structural projects across New England, and may be performed by a fully remote engineer within the MA/RI/NH region with occasional client site visits.
Responsibilities- Support, develop, organize and implement structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation.
- Task management.
- Review plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineering.
- Demonstrated excellence in technical writing.
- Team oriented with strong capability to work independently.
- Robust technical and critical thinking skills.
- Detail oriented and quality focused.
- Strong project management skills.
- Motivated to lead and mentor others.
- Knowledge of structural engineering software.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station v8, Revit, Open Roads, Open Bridge and/or Connect experience is a strong plus.
- 8-11 years of professional experience in structural bridge and building design, construction phasing, and complex projects.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred.
- PE licensure required.
Hourly rate:
Boston/Watertown, MA $55.00–$81.00;
Worcester, MA $50.00–$76.00 (final hourly compensation based on qualifications, education, experience).
