Mentorship Program Coordinator

Overview

The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for Mentorship Leadership Experience Assistant Program Coordinator for the Division of Youth Opportunities (DYO) within the Department of Health and Human Services. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the MLE Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for working with the MLE Program Coordinator to develop the program, engage with families, and facilitate the curriculum of the MLE program.

The MLE program is a free opportunity for youth ages 13 and 14 to gain the necessary skills to become a successful and effective community leader and youth worker. This position will lead and develop a group of 13-14‑year‑olds in a youth workforce readiness program. The MLE Assistant Program Coordinator will work with the Recreation Worcester staff to support the implementation of athletic, academic and arts programs for various age groups.

This position will also work with community partners and other youth serving organizations to provide a holistic view of youth work opportunities to participants. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

• Associate’s degree in human services or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and two (2) years of work experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
• Previous administrative experience
• Previous staff or volunteer supervision experience
• Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
• Experience facilitating activities and programming
• Must pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI)
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
• Ability to travel to and from various Recreation Worcester and other city locations on a regular basis

• One (1) year of administrative experience
• Two (2) years of staff supervision experience
• Two (2) years of experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
• One (1) year of experience facilitating out of school activities and programming
• Bilingual candidate
• Worcester Resident
