The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the Mentorship Leadership Experience Assistant Program Coordinator position within the Division of Youth Opportunities (DYO) of the Department of Health and Human Services. The role reports to the Program Coordinator and focuses on developing the MLE program, engaging families, and facilitating curriculum for youth ages 13 and 14. The program is a free opportunity for young people to develop leadership and community involvement skills.
The Assistant Program Coordinator will work with Recreation Worcester staff to support athletic, academic, and arts programs, as well as coordinate with community partners to provide a holistic view of youth work opportunities to participants.

Essential Responsibilities- Develop and implement a curriculum that promotes the development of youth work skill sets, personal growth, and leadership among MLE youth members.
- Plan, organize, and lead MLE meetings and activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants.
- Facilitate discussion and activities that promote team building and leadership development.
- Support staff in problem solving and crisis management.
- Evaluate the quality of the program and suggest improvements.
- Facilitate and continue development of the MLE program & curriculum.
- Facilitate weekly MLE program meetings.
- Develop and facilitate trainings to develop staff.
- Build connections with community partners to provide field trip experiences to participants.
- Supervise youth participants and guide them to field trip locations using the Worcester Regional Transit Authority bus system.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding youth expectations, behavior, and program policies.
- Order office and summer program supplies.
- Plan meetings and take detailed notes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Regular onsite attendance is required.
- Associate's degree in human services or related field.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and two (2) years of work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Previous administrative experience.
- Previous staff or volunteer supervision experience.
- Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities.
- Experience facilitating activities and programming.
- Must pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to and from various Recreation Worcester and other city locations on a regular basis.
- One (1) year of administrative experience.
- Two (2) years of staff supervision experience.
- Two (2) years experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities.
- One (1) year of experience facilitating out‑of‑school activities and programming.
- Bilingual candidate.
- Worcester resident.
$17.50 hourly; full‑time, temporary, non‑benefitted.
