Industrial Efficiency & Time Study Intern

This summer internship supports Bonded Abrasives Operations through an industrial efficiency improvement initiative focused on time studies and process mapping. The intern will work closely with operations teams to analyze workflows, document current processes, and identify efficiency improvement opportunities using time‑study methods and structured analysis. This role provides hands‑on exposure to operational excellence, industrial efficiency, and data‑driven process improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions

• Complete time studies of workflows to quantify current performance
• Develop clear process maps and documentation of observed workflows
• Summarize findings and identify opportunities for efficiency improvement based on analysis
• Conduct time studies on selected workflows and processes
• Observe, document, and map current-state processes
• Collect and analyze time-study data to identify inefficiencies or variation
• Support development of standardized process documentation
• Collaborate with BA Operations stakeholders to validate observations and findings
• Prepare written summaries and presentations of results and recommendations
• Other duties as assigned.

The Saint-Gobain Abrasives North America location in Worcester, AM is looking for an intern who is available for a Industrial Efficiency & Time Study internship for the summer, May-August 2026.

The internship provides professional development opportunities and valuable applied learning in a manufacturing production setting. The individual will work under the direction the Operational Excellence & Maintenance Manager.

This is an opportunity for an intern to get exposure to various aspects that they have learned in the classroom with the real-life experiences of activities at Saint-Gobain Bonded & Super Abrasives. This internship will also provide:

• Hands on experience with industrial efficiency and time study methodologies
• Exposure to real manufacturing workflows and operational challenges
• Practical experience translating observations and data into improvement insights
• Collaboration with operations and industrial efficiency teams

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a two or four-year accredited degree program, preferably in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering;
  Operations or Supply Chain Management, or related field
• Strong analytical and observation skills
• Ability to document processes clearly and accurately
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Preferred:
  Coursework or experience in industrial efficiency, operations, or process improvement
• Preferred:
  Familiarity with time study techniques, workflow analysis, or lean concepts
• Preferred:
  Interest in manufacturing operations and operational excellence

The hourly rate for internship positions ranges from $19.00 to $24.00 per hour
. However,
the actual rate provided is determined by the student’s and their degree program (Engineering or Other – Business, etc.).
