Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 4880)

. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, developing and promoting a sales culture through personalized gaming solutions and outstanding guest service. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns quickly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform about promotions, recommend items, and thank guests for shopping.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that drive sales and repeat business.
- Process purchases and returns accurately using the POS computer system, including making correct changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and delivering top‑notch service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly using the Game Stop phone greeting, and when appropriate, escalating issues to the Store Manager.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits (title reservations, trade‑in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for associates, training them in policies, procedures, and practices.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
- Enter written feedback for each associate into Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before opening or closing shifts.
- Schedule associates, ensuring break and meal guidelines are followed and staffing levels meet guest service goals.
- Approve payroll, enter paid time off, make time edits, and verify all work time is compensated.
- Maintain clean, organized store areas and equipment, ensuring fixtures and products are properly merchandised.
- Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets with effective inventory control and loss prevention, including scam awareness, safety best practices, and bank deposits.
- Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS; complete close‑out paperwork and bank deposit slips correctly.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies, record them in the POS, and communicate to the Store Manager/District Manager.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly, labeling boxes and including packing lists.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, reporting injuries promptly per guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining neat store records/files and ensuring manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies, procedures, and the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
