Burner​/Torch Cutter

SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively looking for an experienced and skilled Burner/Torch Operator. As a Burner/Torch Operator you will play a crucial role on our production team, and be responsible for the accurate cutting of oversize or large ferrous material through use of an oxy-fuel torch to an acceptable size as determined by the steel mill.

Your expertise in operating torch cutting equipment will contribute to the success of the team.

As a Burner/Torch Operator you must be able to work outside in all weather conditions while wearing the appropriate safety and weather protection gear.

• Ensure all materials are safely and properly staged for processing.
• Identify and assess material to determine the appropriate method to cut the material to the desired specifications.
• Inspect and maintain all torch equipment to ensure safe and efficient working conditions.
• Inspect and maintain work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards.
• Work in a hot environment for long periods of time while wearing several layers of fire protective clothing and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a hard hat, face shield, leather gloves and a respirator.
• Strictly adheres to all company and safety rules and regulations regarding the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Inspect and maintain work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus
• 2 years experience operating an Oxy-Fuel torch highly preferred
• General knowledge of scrap metal processing preferred
• Mechanical background preferred
