Weld Technician

The Weld Technician supports welding operations by maintaining weld process stability, performing inspections and testing, and assisting with troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities. This role ensures weld quality meets internal standards and customer requirements through hands‑on technical support, testing, and inspection. The weld technician will report to the Customer Quality Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Support and follow the Company Safety Program
  • Support daily welding operations (MIG, TIG, Resistance, or Robotic welding as applicable)
  • Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot welding equipment, tooling, and fixtures
  • Perform cut and etch inspections to evaluate weld penetration, fusion, and nugget size
  • Conduct destructive weld testing (peel tests, chisel tests, torque/tension tests, macro-etch samples, etc.)
  • Perform basic nondestructive testing and inspections such as visual inspection, dye penetrant, and magnetic particle (as applicable)
  • Interpret inspection results and identify weld defects or process deviations
  • Assist with corrective actions and process improvements based on inspection findings
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and inspection standards
  • Support weld process validation, trials, and customer or internal audits
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results, weld parameters, and test data
  • Follow all safety, quality, and production requirements
  • Maintain & produce Red Rabbits at cell
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Weld certification (AWS or equivalent) – desired
  • Working knowledge of welding processes and materials
  • Experience using a microscope / software
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and support production needs
  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds
Job Location

Supports the Gerstco Manufacturing Group with some travel as required.
