Responsibilities
  • Teach Science at the 8th grade level with hands-on methods and a strong focus on student engagement.
  • Articulate and implement the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and/or Ohio's New Learning Standards.
  • Documented ability to teach in a blended or flipped learning environment.
  • Experience with a learning management system (LMS) and use progress data to drive individualized, differentiated instruction.
  • Design and deliver instruction using cooperative learning, problem-based learning, thematic instruction, integrated planning, simulations and other models that promote student engagement.
  • Design and deliver instruction for ALL learners, especially students with exceptionalities.
  • Strong background in positive behavior management and ability to relate to at-risk students with families, parents, courts and social agencies that provide services to students.
  • Experience with inclusion settings (co-teaching, team teaching, cross-curricular teaching) and RTI.
  • Maintain excellent evaluations and/or recommendations and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Train and experience in goal setting; engage in ongoing curriculum development.
  • Be a highly qualified teacher; familiarity with learning styles and multiple intelligences.
  • Willingness to work as a member of a team-oriented faculty; commitment to improving student performance as measured by AIR Assessments, ACT, SAT, and other performance-based end-of-course exams.
  • Candidate must pass a criminal background check prior to employment (for non-current employees).
Qualifications
  • Applicant must hold, or be able to obtain, appropriate state licensure (e.g., 7-12, 4-9 or 1-8)
  • Master's Degree in Subject Area preferred
  • Training and experience in hands-on methods
  • Ability to articulate and demonstrate understanding and implementation of CCSS and/or Ohio's New Learning Standards
  • Documented and proven ability to teach in a blended or flipped learning environment
  • Previous experience/training with a learning management system (LMS)
  • Strong evidence of progress monitoring and proficiency in analyzing data to drive individualized, differentiated instruction
  • Training and experience in using cooperative learning, problem-based learning, thematic instruction, integrated planning, simulations and other models of teaching that promote student engagement
  • Proven ability to design and deliver instruction for ALL learners, especially students with exceptionalities
