- Teach Science at the 8th grade level with hands-on methods and a strong focus on student engagement.
- Articulate and implement the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and/or Ohio's New Learning Standards.
- Documented ability to teach in a blended or flipped learning environment.
- Experience with a learning management system (LMS) and use progress data to drive individualized, differentiated instruction.
- Design and deliver instruction using cooperative learning, problem-based learning, thematic instruction, integrated planning, simulations and other models that promote student engagement.
- Design and deliver instruction for ALL learners, especially students with exceptionalities.
- Strong background in positive behavior management and ability to relate to at-risk students with families, parents, courts and social agencies that provide services to students.
- Experience with inclusion settings (co-teaching, team teaching, cross-curricular teaching) and RTI.
- Maintain excellent evaluations and/or recommendations and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Train and experience in goal setting; engage in ongoing curriculum development.
- Be a highly qualified teacher; familiarity with learning styles and multiple intelligences.
- Willingness to work as a member of a team-oriented faculty; commitment to improving student performance as measured by AIR Assessments, ACT, SAT, and other performance-based end-of-course exams.
- Candidate must pass a criminal background check prior to employment (for non-current employees).
- Applicant must hold, or be able to obtain, appropriate state licensure (e.g., 7-12, 4-9 or 1-8)
- Master's Degree in Subject Area preferred
- Training and experience in hands-on methods
