• Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of adults requiring vascular access device (VAD) placement.
• Perform VAD insertion and maintenance using ultrasound and modified Seldinger Technique (MST) for placement.
• Communicate with physicians, co-workers and/or nursing director about the patient s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient patient quality care is provided.
• Adhere to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services.
• Utilize high degree of computer skills with data input and reporting mechanisms; document data for quality measures and routine audits.
• Maintain and reorder supplies as needed daily.
• Coordinate scheduling and prioritize all requests.
• Provide patient and family/significant other education; staff education and in-services.
• Follow up on patient VAD status, dressing changes and troubleshooting problems.
• Act as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

• Education, Experience, Training
• Current and valid RI State RN License.
• Current BLS and ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Infusion Nurse Certification preferred.
• Successful completion of Ultrasound guided PICC placement using Modified Seldinger Technique program.
• Minimum of three years  nursing experience, with high level of competency in peripheral catheter placement.
• PICC and other Vascular Access Device care required.
