Job Summary

The process engineer contributes to the safety, reliability, and profitability of plant operations through the development, application, and optimization of chemical process technologies. This position develops a thorough working knowledge of plant processes and serves as a technical resource utilized by many departments. The incumbent provides engineering, technical, and potential supervisory support to operations, maintenance, process safety, and engineering teams, and participates in production initiatives, technology improvements, capital projects, health, safety, ecology, quality assurance, and logistics.

Job Description
  • Maintains excellent communication and a professional working relationship with all departments and plant personnel.
  • Provides production and process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support to the operations organization.
  • Monitors process and production metrics daily/weekly, reviewing KPIs, operating logs, DCS trends, PI Database trends, lab results, and other data to ensure reliable, consistent, and cost‑effective operations; monitors product yields, catalyst life, and process efficiencies; intervenes where appropriate to resolve operating issues.
  • Provides detailed engineering support to meet Process Safety Management requirements, including monitoring Management of Change, Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Works with the EHS team to ensure compliance with permit conditions and applies appropriate safety and control measures.
  • Develops process standards, operating procedures, diagrams, training materials, and job aids for documentation, training, and production efficiency.
  • Leads and participates in improvement initiatives, projects, and process optimization to deliver focused, time‑bound objectives.
  • Designs and implements new processes or equipment upgrades; manages small and large projects and potential capital assignments to support plant improvements.
  • Provides knowledge of maintenance activities to determine what can be performed on‑stream versus during shutdown.
  • Actively participates in Process Hazard Analyses and Layers of Protection Analysis teams.
  • Participates in incident investigations and problem‑solving exercises as needed.
  • Participates in turnaround and/or plant shutdown activities, including planning, implementation, and verification stages.
Internal Controls

Establishes and implements processes to meet departmental safety and internal controls requirements, ensures adherence, and develops corrective actions as necessary.

Required Qualifications
  • BS degree in engineering.
  • Engineering experience in a production, manufacturing, or plant environment.
  • Exposure to project management and implementation.
  • Solid communication skills, including effective English written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
