Responsibilities- The Apprentice Mechanic has the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received as oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.
- Maintain, repair and overhaul heavy vehicles and industrial equipment.
- Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
- Keep equipment clean, lubricated and maintained.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
- Obey all workplace health and safety rules and code of conduct.
- Undertake the training and assessment required under the training plan.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Need excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Waste industry experience is a plus.
- Completion of college or vocational or technical training is a plus.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations is required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Sporadic local travel required.
- Waste industry experience, a plus.
- Completion of college or vocational or technical training, a plus.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations is required.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
TravelSporadic local travel required.
