Full Time | Monday through Friday | 1 Weekend of Call per Month
A hospital-based opportunity is available for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support an inpatient urology service in Canton, Georgia. This role focuses on rounding, consult management, and coordinating care for hospitalized urology patients while working closely with physicians, nurses, and hospital staff.
Schedule- Monday through Friday
- Normal daytime working hours
- One weekend of call per month
The APP Hospitalist helps manage inpatient urologic care by performing daily rounds, evaluating consults, and communicating with physicians and care teams throughout the hospital. The role requires strong prioritization, collaboration, and clinical judgment in a hospital setting.
Typical Day- Arrival at the hospital around 8:00 AM to review the patient list and identify rounding priorities
- Morning rounds begin, starting with patients who may be discharging, followed by other inpatients and new consults
- Afternoon rounds continue to complete patient visits and consult evaluations
- Later in the afternoon, the APP connects with an in-house physician to review higher priority or complex patients, while ongoing communication with physicians occurs throughout the day
- End-of-day administrative tasks including submitting hospital charges and sending patient sign out to the physician team
- Perform daily inpatient rounds for urology patients
- Evaluate and manage hospital consults
- Communicate with physicians regarding patient status and care plans
- Respond to emergency department calls to triage urologic patients and determine inpatient or outpatient needs
- Assist with patient admissions or preparation for operating room cases when needed
- Respond to nursing calls and requests from on-call physicians
- Coordinate with office staff to arrange outpatient follow-up for hospitalized patients
- Complete documentation and hospital billing requirements
This position requires the ability to manage multiple patients, communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, and support the coordination of inpatient urologic care.
