Position Information:
Registered Nurses are responsible for providing patient-centered care, assessing patient health, developing and implementing care plans and delivering direct patient care. Registered Nurses provide education and support to patients, families and caregivers to promote understanding and self-management while working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
Essential Job Functions:
• Report concerns related to staffing levels and patient acuity to Director of Patient Care.
• Assesses the health status of assigned patients on the unit as outlined in the Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Works with the patient and family/caregivers to formulate a patient centered plan of care.
• Advocates for patients to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilizes time management skills to provide care to patients and delegates or directs other team members as appropriate.
• Works collaboratively with the Director and the healthcare team to problem solve, plan, implement and evaluate unit specific improvement strategies.
Qualifications:
• Current Certificate of Competence from College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current CPR Certificate and IV Initiation Skills.
• Experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing within the past 2 years.
• Central Line Management experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fundamentals of Palliative Care Certificate mandatory.
• PCA Pump experience preferred
• Documented commitment to continuing education through service, staff meetings and self-motivated learning.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision making, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Satisfactory Attendance if internal.
• Skilled in good customer relations.
• Commitment to Patient Care & Safety and Service Excellence.
• Satisfactory vulnerable person’s sector criminal background check.
