This is a meaningful opportunity to lead clinical excellence and resident-centred care in long-term care.

As our Director of Care (DOC), you’ll provide clinical and operational leadership for nursing and personal care services—ensuring care is safe, high-quality, and grounded in residents’ needs and preferences.

You’ll set clear standards for professional practice and oversee care delivery to support consistent documentation, sound clinical decision-making, and a positive resident and family experience.

You’ll champion continuous quality improvement and resident safety, ensuring the Home remains compliant with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Ministry requirements, and Accreditation Canada standards.

If you’re a compassionate clinical leader who thrives on strengthening systems and developing people, this role offers the chance to make a direct, lasting impact every day.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

In this role, you will:

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight for nursing and personal care services
  • Ensure care is delivered safely, consistently, and in alignment with resident-centred standards
  • Maintain compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) requirements, and applicable directives
  • Support accreditation readiness and standards, including Accreditation Canada requirements
  • Champion resident- and family-centred care and quality of life initiatives
  • Lead implementation of clinical components of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), ensuring practice-level changes are embedded within nursing and care teams
  • Support Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices and outbreak preparedness
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor nursing leadership and frontline staff; support performance and professional practice expectations
  • Promote effective interdisciplinary practice with medical staff and other departments to support care planning and resident outcomes
  • Contribute to operational planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives to support sustainable service delivery
Who You’ll Work With

You will report to the Executive Director and serve as a key member of the Home Leadership Team, providing clinical leadership for nursing and personal care services.

You’ll work in close partnership with the Director of Quality and Risk on clinical quality and safety priorities and maintain strong relationships with medical staff and interdisciplinary leaders to support resident outcomes and inspection readiness.

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who brings clinical expertise, leadership, and heart. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience (long-term care preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario long-term care legislation, inspection processes, and best practices
  • Experience with quality improvement, resident safety, and Accreditation Canada standards
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and build staff capability
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Leadership, or related field (preferred)
  • Additional training in quality, safety, IPAC, or healthcare leadership
