Position Summary: The Quality Control Technician I plays a critical hands‑on role in ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance at Home Run Inn Pizza’s manufacturing facility. The QC Tech I performs inspections on ingredients, in-process products, and finished products to ensure that internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory requirements are met.
LocationFrozen Pizza Production Plant. 1300 Internationale Pkwy, Woodridge, IL60517
Schedule5:30am-2:00pm Monday-Friday with occasional weekends based on department needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Monitor and verify CPs, CCPs, cGMPs, and Sanitation activities
- Performs quality inspection and verification activities to ensure all standards are met
- Supports and promotes a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with all workplace health and safety requirements and reinforcing safe behaviors across the team.
- Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety program, complying with all safety and GMP requirements.
- Monitor compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety protocols
- Perform environmental monitoring, allergen verification, pre‑operational inspections and hold/release activities
- Maintain accurate QC records, including test results, deviations, and corrective actions.
- Identify, document, and elevate food safety or quality concerns
- Verifies calibration of equipment in accordance with company quality procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Participate in root cause analysis for non-conformances and support corrective actions and preventive measures (CAPA)
- Work cross-functionally with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams
- Promote a culture of food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Other duties as assigned.
- 2+ years experience in food manufacturing or quality control preferred
- Experience working in USDA and FDA regulated facilities
- Working knowledge of HACCP, cGMPs, and FDA/USDA food safety regulations
- Able to Speak, Read, and Understand English.
- Has basic Word and Excel experience.
- Able to analyze and interpret information.
- Uses good time management and decision‑making skills to assist key personnel in resolving incidents in real time.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift to 50 lbs for extended periods
- HACCP, SQF, or GFSI certification
- Experience working with FDA/USDA Inspectors
- Familiarity with frozen food or pizza production
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
