The AKL Trading team is seeking an ambitious Junior Trader with a passion for finance and capital markets. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated with an intense desire to learn to trade futures markets, research and develop investment theses, and support the broader team. AKL Trading is a small but growing proprietary trading firm staffed by experienced senior traders with a track record of developing young talent.

The Junior Trader’s primary responsibility will be trading futures in a variety of markets using a mix of algorithmic and non-algorithmic strategies. The Junior Trader will have opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization.

• Knowledgeably operate AKL’s trading systems and algorithmic models
• Make quick, rational decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Monitor risk utilizing AKL’s internal risk system and trading parameters
• Effectively communicate with exchanges and prime brokerage
• Assist team with researching financial market data; current and historical
• Provide analytical support through data entry and customized reporting
• Complete position reconciliation, model configuration, and other ad-hoc operational duties
• Be in office 5 days a week
• Be a reliable and collaborative team player

• Willingness and ability to work Asian/European market hours (overnight) - required
• Bachelor’s degree - required
• Effective math aptitude, numerical and quantitative analytic skills – required
• Working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office products – required
• Punctual and professional at all times – required
• Self‑motivated and team-oriented with strong time management skills - required
• Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills - required
• Intermediate understanding of statistics - preferred
  
  Familiarity with Python or SQL - preferred
• Direct experience not required; however, a background in financial markets or peripheral finance is preferred
