Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 5050)
Game Stop is seeking an experienced assistant store manager to oversee store operations, support the store manager, and ensure outstanding service for our gaming community.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns quickly, assist guests with their gaming needs, inform guests of special promotions, recommend additional items, apply all selling behaviors, and thank every guest for shopping at Game Stop.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and return transactions accurately using the POS system, including making correct changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and ensuring top-notch service.
- Answer phone calls promptly, courteously, and professionally; use Game Stop’s phone greeting; and, when appropriate, escalates customer issues to the Store Manager timely and professionally.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits, e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting store‑associate service expectations, training in all job responsibilities, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance to align all associates with Company guidelines.
- Provide recognition and feedback to all store associates; regularly input written feedback for each associate into Workday/HR system together with the Store Manager.
- Ensure store associates have completed all onboarding, job training, and compliance training before opening or closing shifts; knowledge of company and store policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics is required.
- Schedule store associates with break and meal considerations, supervise staffing levels, and maintain optimum guest service.
- Approve payroll, enter paid time off, make time edits, and verify associates are paid for all hours worked.
- Ensure all areas of the store, including restrooms, are clean, organized, merchandised per company guidelines, and that fixtures and equipment are functioning properly.
- Fulfill and ship Omnichannel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices; inspect packages or belongings at closing or shift end as appropriate and communicate concerns.
- Support the store team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative and operational duties.
- Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure all products are represented, organized, and alphabetized on the sales floor.
- Reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system and complete close‑out paperwork and bank deposits correctly, ensuring sufficient cash and change.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies, record discrepancies in the POS system, conduct merchandise counts/inventories, and communicate with Store Manager or District Manager.
- Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately and promptly; label boxes and include packing lists.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; identify and address hazardous situations immediately and report injuries per Company guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records/files; help ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
