Overview
Position Title: Medical Assistant I

Reports To: Back Office Supervisor

Location: Woodland, CA
Schedule: 40 hrs/week;
Monday–Friday; 8am–5pm with some evenings
Pay Range: $25.58 to $31.26 hourly
About Communi Care+OLEEstablished in 2023, Communi Care+OLE is the result of a union of two health centers with deep roots in their respective communities and reputations for providing high-quality primary care to all, regardless of insurance or ability to pay: OLE Health of Napa and Solano Counties and Communi Care Health Centers of Yolo County. Building on a legacy established by both organizations in 1972, Communi Care+OLE is a network of federally-qualified health centers with 17 sites across Napa, Solano, and Yolo Counties.
It offers comprehensive care, including medical, dental, behavioral health and substance use treatment, nutrition, optometry, pharmacy, care coordination, referrals, and enrollment assistance to more than 70,000 individuals, and no one is turned away due to lack of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay. Many services are offered outside of its sites, including mobile health, home visiting, and community and school-based programs.

The Medical Assistant works with the medical services staff to assist with medical visits and provide initial patient intake. The Medical Assistant works as part of a multidisciplinary team composed of the clinic services coordinator, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and community health workers educators to provide comprehensive care to a primarily low income, non-English speaking population. The Medical Assistant I ensures optimum patient care through the efficient rooming of patients, exhibiting good communication with patients and other staff, performing medical procedures, providing patient education, follow-up care instructions, and completing daily documentation.

MinimumPosition Requirements :
Education, Experience, Skills/Training
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Satisfactory completion of an accredited medical assistant program in California; CA Medical Assistant certification strongly preferred. EMT certification or similar certification in lieu of Medical Assistant certification. Phlebotomy Certificate strongly preferred.
- Experience / Lived Experience: Entry level position up to one year of experience. Must certify and remain current in CPR.
- Special Skills / Training: Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and customer service skills; computer skills;
Microsoft Office Suite; strong data entry skills; electronic health record system required. Bilingual in English/Spanish/Dari/Punjabi/Vietnamese strongly preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Reliable transportation required.
- Interviews patients for program eligibility for health care coverage programs (e.g., Covered California, Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, PAP, CMSP).
- Assists patients with applications and collects necessary documentation.
- Educates patients, family members and community about health coverage programs.
- Provides data entry of patient information into the electronic health record system.
- Supports community events and health fairs.
- Greets patients entering exam rooms and promotes a positive patient service experience.
- Rooms patients, obtains and documents vital signs.
- Collects and documents patient history and current state of health.
- Disinfects and prepares treatment rooms, equipment and supplies to ensure efficient workflow.
- Provides patient education and follow-up care instructions as directed by provider at discharge.
- Performs panel management and non-visit tasks as assigned by Provider or Nurse.
