Overview

The Supervising Clinician is a licensed behavioral health clinician with demonstrated leadership abilities and clinical excellence. This individual oversees an effective service delivery team, consisting of Behavioral Health Therapists, Substance Use Disorder Counselors, Native American Life Skills Coaches, and Native American Youth Counselors at the respective site. The Supervising Clinician is responsible for role optimization, onboarding of new team members, advocacy, and acting as the primary behavioral health resource.

This position is held concurrently with clinical practice in the respective specialty.

Responsibilities
  • Administrative supervision: review and approve requests for time-off and oversee timesheet submissions; receive and respond to employee call-off notifications; determine and coordinate scheduling; and complete performance evaluations.
  • Clinical supervision: provide consultation for assessment and diagnosis, treatment planning, individual and group treatment interventions, discharge summaries and case conceptualization.
  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of Behavioral Health Department program policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations; maintains applicable program licensing, certification and accreditations.
  • Selects, assigns, trains and monitors program staff; develops and facilitates continuing education and staff development opportunities (client confidentiality, reporting and record keeping requirements, evidence-based interventions, culturally competent and trauma-informed care, etc.).
  • Conducts staff meetings and case conferences; provides coaching and support to direct reports to ensure that productivity standards and client care expectations are met.
  • Performs continuous quality improvement tasks and monitors program for compliance with state and federal laws; assists government officials with program audits; may respond to audits and recommend program changes.
  • Maintains caseload of patients; conducts assessments; administers screening tools; develops treatment plans; and provides individual, group, and/or family therapy services to a wide range of individuals with various presenting problems, using effective treatment techniques.
  • Completes clinical documentation and maintains other pertinent patient information within the comprehensive electronic health record.
  • Communicates proactively with multidisciplinary treatment team to coordinate and enhance patient care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required

Experience
  • Licensure as a Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years post licensure experience.
  • Ability to complete supervisory training, as required by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) with the purpose of meeting clinical supervisor requirements; must be completed no later than 30 days after hire into Supervising Clinician role.
  • Two years of experience providing counseling and/or case management services in a Substance Use Disorder treatment program.
  • Professional knowledge of and aptitude in the application of evidence-based practices for the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions.
  • Leadership skills in supervising, coaching, counseling and managing performance of support staff.
  • Proven competence in responding to patient complaints and handling high stress (crisis) situations.
  • Demonstrated the ability to work with diverse populations (experience working with Native Americans is desirable).
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, problem-solving and analytical skills with acute attention to detail and capacity to work independently under limited supervision.
  • Exemplifies excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Must have reliable transportation, engage in regular attendance and travel, as job requires.
  • Ability to complete annual health screening, including but not limited to TB screening.
