Position: Engineering Technician III (20693017)

Engineering Technician III ) – City of Woodland, California

Join the City of Woodland’s Engineering Department as an Engineering Technician III, a skill‑based, project‑leadership role responsible for advanced field and office engineering work, including public works/engineering projects from design through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform advanced engineering work in one or more functional areas of the City.
  • Lead public works/engineering projects from design through construction.
  • Inspect encroachment permit projects, draft conditions of approval, and assist with permit issuance.
  • Review plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and standards for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct field data collection, testing, and site investigations.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, change orders, progress reports, and as‑built drawings.
  • Provide technical assistance to other City departments and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain safety standards and report unsafe conditions promptly.
Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience comparable to a City Engineering Technician II, or seven (7) years of increasingly complex paraprofessional engineering experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus at least six months of college coursework in drafting, math, science, or related fields.
  • Completion of coursework in civil engineering, construction technology, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Desired certifications in construction management, project management, transportation management, or environmental planning.
  • Valid California driver’s license required upon hire.
  • Strong communication skills, customer‑service orientation, and ability to work independently in office and field settings.
  • Knowledge of local codes, regulations, and engineering standards.
