Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Wholesale and Business Development, the General Manager of Wholesale Fuel is responsible for leading the daily operations, sales performance, and strategic growth of the wholesale fuel division. This position oversees branded and unbranded wholesale activities, manages dealer relationships, ensures compliance with supplier requirements, and drives profitability through efficient operations and strong customer partnerships. The General Manager works closely with business development managers, licensing staff, and coordinators to execute departmental objectives while aligning with company-wide goals for growth, compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Leadership & Operations Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the wholesale fuel department, including sales, account management, and contract execution - Leadership & Operations Management:
Lead and support a team of Business Development Managers, Coordinators, and administrative personnel - Leadership & Operations Management:
Ensure departmental processes and performance align with company objectives and compliance standards - Leadership & Operations Management:
Monitor operational efficiency, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and improve service delivery - Leadership & Operations Management:
Collaborate with the VP of Wholesale and Business Development on strategic initiatives, budgeting, and long-term growth planning - Sales & Business Development:
Implement sales strategies to achieve volume, margin, and profitability goals for both branded and unbranded fuel programs - Sales & Business Development:
Support and guide Business Development Managers in identifying and onboarding new dealers, partners, and licensing opportunities - Sales & Business Development:
Analyze market conditions, competitor activities, and pricing structures to maintain a competitive edge - Sales & Business Development:
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, vendors, and key business partners to enhance growth opportunities - Dealer & Partner Relations:
Serve as the primary point of escalation for major dealer accounts and contractual issues - Dealer & Partner Relations:
Ensure consistent communication and service excellence across all customer relationships - Dealer & Partner Relations:
Oversee contract administration, renewals, and performance monitoring for wholesale fuel accounts - Dealer & Partner Relations:
Support dealer partners in optimizing operations, marketing initiatives, and compliance with supplier image standards - Dealer & Partner Relations:
Conduct periodic site visits to maintain relationships and assess performance opportunities - Financial & Performance Management:
Manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial targets - Financial & Performance Management:
Monitor revenue, margins, and expenses to ensure profitability and operational efficiency - Financial & Performance Management:
Review financial performance reports and provide strategic insights to the VP of Wholesale - Financial & Performance Management:
Ensure accurate reporting of sales volumes, supply costs, and account activity - Financial & Performance Management:
Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities without compromising service quality - Compliance &
Risk Management:
Oversee adherence to supplier brand and image standards for branded accounts - Compliance &

Maintain accurate and complete documentation for contracts - Compliance &

Coordinate with Legal and Compliance teams to resolve contract or operational disputes - Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and evaluate departmental staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and growth - Team Development:
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and coaching - Team Development:
Promote collaboration and communication between internal teams and external partners - Team Development:
Identify training needs and ensure team members are equipped with the tools and knowledge to perform effectively - Strategic
Collaboration:
Partner with Finance, Operations, Legal, and Marketing departments to support wholesale business objectives - Strategic
Collaboration:
Provide market insights and operational recommendations to executive leadership - Strategic
Collaboration:
Participate in the development of licensing programs and strategic initiatives to expand the company’s wholesale network - Strategic
Collaboration:
Represent the wholesale division at internal meetings, trade shows, and industry events
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in wholesale or fuel industry operations, with at least 3 years in a management role
- Proven track record of leadership in wholesale fuel sales, account management, or business development
