Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Full-Time

Location: Passaic Area, NJ
Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Pay Information

Base Rate: $17.70/hour
Weekend Rate: $18.70/hour

Job Overview

Advancing Opportunities, an affiliate of Apis Services
, is seeking a compassionate, experienced Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at a group home in the Passaic area, supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.

As a Lead DSP, you will work closely with Group Home Managers to ensure high-quality care, compliance with standards, and smooth communication with guardians, healthcare providers, and community agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Lead DSPs provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship to both residents and team members while supporting daily operations of the group home.

    Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with Group Home Managers to ensure all aspects of care meet program standards
  • Communicate with guardians, doctors, and community agencies as needed
  • Provide direct care and support to residents, including:
    • Daily living skills (cooking, housekeeping, hygiene)
    • Health and wellness (personal medical care, healthy living)
    • Community participation (shopping, recreation, outings)
    • Social and emotional development (coping skills, communication, friendships)
    • Budgeting and money management
  • Mentor and provide guidance to DSP staff
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with agency policies and procedures
  • Promote independence, dignity, and autonomy for residents

Qualifications
  • 21 years or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 3 years experience as a DSP (minimum)
  • 1 year lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to successfully complete:
    • State and Federal criminal background checks
    • Drug screening
    • Pre-employment physical and PPD
  • Willingness to complete all required orientation and pre-service training
