As a Broadband Technician III
, you will perform extremely complex installations, disconnects, and service changes for residential and business customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and support PON/Metro

E. These services include, but are not limited to, video service, HSD Services, and home/business phone service. This role performs advanced troubleshooting from the tap to the customer s electronic devices (TV, DVD, Modem etc.). This position will be responsible for installing, splicing, repairing, and maintaining aerial, buried, and/or underground fiber optic and copper cable. This position will be knowledgeable of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of telecommunications.

Due to in-field support and on-call requirements, the individual selected for this position will be required to reside within a 60-minute driving distance from the Fort Carson, CO warehouse located at: 1510 Hare Street - Fort Carson, CO 80913.

This position can be hired at either a Broadband Technician I (requisition  #), Broadband Technician II (requisition  #), or Broadband Technician III (requisition  #) level depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. Different job postings exist for each position. • Performs complex installation of all necessary cable wiring (interior and exterior) and hardware from the tap to the customer s equipment for reception of cable and other company services for single, multi-family, and/or commercial dwellings. This may include subject matter expertise related to the RF distribution of signals, including system architecture - design principles and HFC architecture; distribution components - actives, passives, and coaxial cable;
  
  signal types - analog, modulation schemes, frequency spectrum, and impairments; and maintenance and troubleshooting - sweeping, FCC rules, return path, test equipment, status monitoring, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Performs connects (new connects and reconnects), disconnects (requested and non-pays), upgrades, downgrades, relocates; installs additional outlets, fiber connections, hardline cutovers, and installs or removes equipment (e.g., converters).
• Performs all work to conform to quality control guidelines (including compliance with OSHA, FCC NEC, and NESC).
• Tests equipment to identify and repair signal strength issues and ensure optimum reception. Uses Locators, TDRs, FDRs and read system maps as required.
• Monitors and records system, drop, and in-house leakage; properly records all required information on work orders, surveys, referrals, etc.
• Promotes cable, internet, and other company services; educates customers on proper use of the service, including how to add additional services, channel lineups, proper equipment usage, and other services available.

• 2+ years technical telecommunications experience - OR - current/prior military service with honorable discharge.
• 1+ year of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, or switch training.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver s license.
• Must follow the TDS attendance guidelines to meet business needs.

• Upon hire, must successfully complete customer-specific requirements, which may include a background check administered by the customer.
