About the Role (English)
The checker's primary role is to ensure that the trailer is loaded in the correct order, with the correct number of plants, and that all plant material is labeled correctly. Specified by stop customers. Additional responsibilities may be included based on the nursery needs.
Employment StatusEmployment is full-time, seasonal for approximately 2 to 4 months, with the possibility of year-round employment, subject to change based on the business needs.
ShiftShift hours are 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, Monday-Friday; hours are subject to change based on business needs.
Compensation$17.00 per hour
DescriptionWe are seeking individuals who like working with their hands, are detail oriented, and enjoy being a part of a team. The primary function of Loading Checker is to ensure that the trailer is loaded in the correct order, with the correct number of plants, and that all plants material is labeled correctly.
What You’ll DoYou will be involved in various responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
- Verify the order that is being loaded on the truck.
- Verify that the quantities and quality of plant material is to Monrovia’s standard.
- Ensure that the load is loaded in the correct order and that all plant material is created and stacked correctly.
- Ensure that each drop is clearly marked and separated plainly.
- Instruct, guide, and lead the load team.
- Maintain and document changes on shipping orders.
- Help to ensure that the loading team works in a safe and productive manner using the principles of Lean Six Sigma.
- Walking, lifting to 40 lbs., bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching are part of the essential job functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet department and nursery requirement needs.
- Have specific job experience; must have knowledge of the variety of plants grown in the nursery and knowledge of Monrovia Quality Standard.
- Basic reading and writing skills are required.
- Must be able to pass a basic skill exam.
- Excellent math skills with strong attention to detail and number accuracy.
- Be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Willing to attend technical training classes and plant during working hours.
- Can work in inclement weather conditions (hot, cold, and rainy).
- Can work independently in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and possess exceptional follow-through skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills and jobs.
- Have the flexibility to work in different team environments supporting other teams and fellow craftsmen and coaches.
- Ability to take initiative with minimal direction.
- Are open to working extended hours if needed, based on the business need.
- Can lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly or 50+ pounds on occasion.
- Have the full range of mobility in your upper and lower body, can reach overhead and work in various positions including standing, walking, bending over, and squatting; can lift, pull, and push materials, use hands and fingers to feel, handle plants or operate objects, tools or controls; are able to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus, all with or without a reasonable accommodation.
