Pay Rate: $19.85–$21.80 per hour
Schedule / Shift: Floater position; hours may vary between 6:00 AM and 8:30 PM based on assignment and coverage needs
Job Summary
The Phlebotomist III – Float represents the face of the organization to patients visiting for routine healthcare services or critical health decisions. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient confidence while following established practices and procedures. This position provides coverage across multiple locations and roles, including Patient Service Centers, mobile services, long-term care, house calls, and in-office phlebotomy.
The Phlebotomist III – Float demonstrates leadership behaviors, supports process excellence, and maintains strict confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide coverage and leadership support across multiple sites and service types
- Ensure daily activities at Patient Service Centers, Mobile, Long-Term Care, and In-Office locations are completed accurately and on time
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established procedures
- Step in to lead and direct one or more PSRs on site as needed
- Act as a coach, mentor, and resource for new employees and assist with onboarding new clients
- Serve as point of contact for on-site staff and provide regular feedback to group leads or supervisors
- Support high-complexity and high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy expertise
- Collaborate with Sales, Laboratory Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics teams
- Maintain a safe and professional environment and promote a positive public image
Required Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to provide error-free work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Advanced phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to changing assignments
- Superior customer focus with strong verbal and written communication abilities
Preferred:
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, and WA)
Education & Experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Five (5) years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Minimum three (3) years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required
