The HIM Documentation Specialist is responsible for retrieving all paper medical records from various locations; prepping, scanning, indexing, and quality checking medical records; and for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of all patients’ medical records. The HIM Documentation Specialist applies these skills to all types of patient records, including but not limited to Inpatient, Outpatient, and Emergency Room records.

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years medical record experience required.
• Minimum one-year clerical experience required.
• Experience in a Health Information Management department preferred.
• Experience in Cerner Power Chart and/or Cerner Kofax preferred.
• Experience with desktop document scanner preferred.

• Detail oriented.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
