Avenues to Independent Living | Full-Time | Gloucester, Cumberland & Salem Counties (NJ)

Avenues to Independent Living is seeking a full-time Employment Skills Trainer to support our Pre‑Employment Transition Services (Pre‑ETS) Paid Youth Internship Program. This role includes a mix of teaching work‑readiness skills, developing internship sites, coaching interns in the field, and collaborating with families, schools, and employers.
This position works on‑site and off‑site throughout South Jersey and reports to our Woodbury or Vineland offices depending on assignment.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities) Training & Program Delivery- Facilitate small‑group, in‑person work‑readiness workshops for youth ages 14–21
- Prepare workshop materials, locations, and program supplies
- Provide transportation for interns when assigned
- Attend program orientations (some may occur outside standard work hours)
- Build and maintain relationships with internship site employers
- Attend job fairs and networking events (including some before/after regular hours)
- Match interns to individualized work‑based learning placements
- Conduct weekly on‑site coaching/observations for all assigned interns
- Ensure internship sites follow safety, regulatory, and program requirements
- Document intern progress, concerns, and successes
- Complete all required program documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain intern schedules, transportation needs, and communication updates
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and program debriefings
- Maintain professionalism at all times—representing Avenues with integrity
We’re looking for someone who is:
- An effective communicator (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
- Organized, dependable, and skilled at time management
- Professional, self‑directed, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable using technology (email, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Approachable, patient, and supportive with youth and families
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in Human Services, Special Education, job coaching, or work with at‑risk youth and/or individuals with disabilities
- Valid driver’s license
, active auto insurance
, and a reliable personal vehicle - Willingness to travel throughout Gloucester, Cumberland, and Salem Counties
Preferred but not required:
- Completion of the Rutgers Boggs Center Employment Specialist Training
- Spanish or ASL bilingual abilities
