Job Overview
Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Woodwind’s Hospital in Woodbury, MN. This position is 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two weeks), working 8‑hour shifts on the Evening shift with an every‑other‑weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) rotation and a holiday rotation.

About this position – Med Surg/Ortho 3 South
- 26 private rooms
- Patient population: total hips, total knees, spine surgeries, shoulder surgeries, general Med/Surg, and general ortho
- Ages 18+
- Patient average length of stay is 1‑3 days
The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.
Responsibilities- Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties including partnering with the patient caregiver in care/decision making.
- Personal grooming, bathing, toileting
- Feeding
- Skin‑care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams
- Oral hygiene
- Specimen collection/testing
- Positioning/ambulating
- Changing linens
- Promptly answers call lights
- Assists nurse in monitoring patient condition
- Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation
- Places patient on/off monitors or equipment
- Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner
- Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients
- Orients patient/family to environment
- Assures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association‑Healthcare Provider. Ontrack participants must be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
- One of the following qualifications:
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long‑term, home care or acute care setting (e.g., Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician)
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program
