RequirementsWe are currently recruiting for a full-time Medical Assistant supporting psychiatric prescribers. In this role you will be a key liaison between the patient and the provider responding to patient questions and communicating orders from the provider.
Responsibilities- Prepping patients by checking vital signs, guiding patients to exam rooms and providing instructions before they’re seen by Clinicians
- Documenting psychiatric encounters including chief complaints, diagnoses, treatment plans, orders, and medications into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system
- Passing prescribed medications, transmitting electronically prescribe prescriptions, and processing refill requests
- Monitoring patients for safety
- Completing prescription prior authorizations
- Reviewing charts to ensure accuracy
- Helping to maintain efficient patient flow in a fast paced environment
- Gathering and verifying insurance coverage or helping process claims paperwork
- Cleaning or maintaining medical equipment and supplies
- Responding to written and verbal patient inquiries
- Other duties as assigned
We are seeking a professional and energetic candidate with strong interpersonal and communication skills who understands the importance of patient care. The ideal candidate will be computer savvy (EHR experience preferred) and possess a basic understanding of psychiatry principles. A college degree is required with a preference for a biology, neuroscience, pre-med, psychology, or related major. Experience in a medical office, or equivalent education preferred.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting a plus and this is a role that many gap year students have filled in the past while applying to medical school.
