EssentialJob Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to guest questions/concerns quickly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform of special promotions, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors, thank every guest and prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the total shopping environment: visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives and guest relationships.
- Process guest purchases and returns using the POS computer system accurately and efficiently.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade‑in and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training associates on company policies and procedures.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback to the Store Manager and address unsatisfactory performance.
- Document written feedback for each associate in Workday or the HR service management system.
- Ensure all associates complete onboarding, job training and compliance training before opening or closing a shift.
- Schedule associates, supervise staffing levels and ensure staffing guidelines are followed.
- Approve payroll, enter paid time off and verify all time worked is paid.
- Maintain cleanliness and merchandising of all store areas, including restrooms, fixtures and equipment.
- Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through effective inventory control, loss prevention practices and bank deposits.
- Support the team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise and organize the sales floor.
- Reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system and complete closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies, record them and communicate with the Store Manager or District Manager.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly, ensuring proper labeling and packing lists.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, identify hazards and report injuries promptly.
- Maintain store records and files in an organized manner and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow all opening and closing procedures.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.

- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
