What You'll Be Working On

Responsible for the overall management and direction of the production process, leadership of the team, and ensuring store performance meets financial targets per the operating plan.

Store Performance
  • Ensure financial targets and key metrics are achieved.
  • Able to analyze and act on key metrics.
  • Inspect sales floor for shop-ability and a positive customer/donor experience.
  • Prioritize and direct team member activity.
Leadership and Development
  • Lead, direct, and supervise supervisors and production team members.
  • Plan staffing needs and coordinate recruitment and training.
  • Observe, assess, and coach supervisors and team members regularly.
  • Identify and develop high-potential supervisors and team members.
  • Maintain a respectful, values-driven workplace.
  • Use open communication tools and convert input into action.
  • Fulfill manager on duty responsibilities and oversee the store as acting manager when assigned.
Customer/Donor Service
  • Respond to customer/donor questions, requests and complaints.
  • Deliver a positive, unforgettable customer/donor experience.
  • Actively engage with customers/donors for first-hand feedback.
  • Implement sales and marketing promotions when required.
  • Assist donors per Company standards.
Consistent Production
  • Manage item put-out condition & volume, production margin, price spread and seasonal backstock.
  • Ensure all sellable items are available.
  • Plan, schedule, assign and direct team work to achieve sales, service, production, labor efficiency and profit objectives.
  • Manage production workflow efficiencies and organization.
  • Oversee quality control checks throughout all production stages.
  • Lead the morning maintenance program.
  • Partner with the Community Donation Manager/Retail Sales Manager to manage OSD flow and process.
  • Ensure accuracy of daily stock-on-hand (SOH) and merchandise supply requirements.
  • Leverage recycling program to reduce landfill.
Loss Prevention and Safety
  • Protect company assets and information.
  • Promote loss prevention awareness.
  • Maintain safety through education and consistent follow-up.
  • Oversee certification process for Big Joe, baler and Lock-Out/Tag Out (LOTO).
What You Have

  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Reasoning, decision making and independent judgment.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience
  • High School diploma; post-secondary degree or diploma preferred.
  • Results-driven retail store management or industrial management experience.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of products up to 5 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs, and pushing/pulling of racks/carts weighing 50–250 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching out in various levels and directions.
  • Dexterity for complex hand-eye tasks, including keyboarding.
  • Continuous standing, frequently walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and occasional kneeling.
  • Read written and electronic documents and product labels.
  • Continuous need to hear and verbally communicate.
  • Exposure to hazardous machinery, solvents, radiation, dust, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Adjust work schedule to business needs (nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Navigate work environment that may include large industrial machinery, heavy equipment, and moving forklifts.
  • Frequent reaching to various levels and directions to move/stack boxes of product.
  • Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending, and twisting and occasional kneeling needed to stack and/or stock product(s) on display racks.
