Knowledge Management Specialist

Overview

The Knowledge Management Specialist works closely with the Director of Training and Development, the Executive team, Coordinators, Captains, and others to document and maintain company wide policies and standard operating procedures and to develop and implement ways to make these documents a living, accessible repository for continuous education. The Specialist also assists with writing formal internal and external messaging. They have strong technical writing skills and bring energy and excitement to creating and implementing foundational business resources.

• Supports IGF’s efforts to standardize practices and accountability metrics by introducing and implementing policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Leads discoveries with subject matter experts to develop SOP content.
• Drafts and edits SOP documents and other strategic plans, policies, and technical documents with the objectives of:
  • Ensuring mission alignment
  • Elevating practices
• Spearheads document version control practices.
• Enforces management reviews.
• Assists with documenting and presenting company- and department-level initiatives and developing trainings and other outreach and presentation materials related to new policies and practices.
• Assists with coordinating major department-level communication efforts, ensuring each department is aware of, and where necessary contributing to, other departments’ initiatives.
• Assists with writing and editing formal internal and external messaging such as company wide announcements, letters from the President, and press releases.
• Supports IGF’s continuous improvement efforts by identifying and vetting technology-based management solutions to enhance efficiency.
• Contributes to the design and development of other strategic initiatives as necessary.

• Minimum five years of experience in strategic development and communications
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic plans and initiatives
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word
• Ability to effectively and tactfully engage with senior leaders to provide strategic insights and recommendations for business processes
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, strategic planning, organizational development, communications, or a related field
