Veterinary Assistant

Overview

Garden State Veterinary Services (GSVS) in Woodbridge, NJ is hiring veterinary assistants to join our Surgery Department. We are a multispecialty practice with boarded specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, radiology, and critical care. Our clients and patients also have access to ophthalmology, oncology, radiation oncology, neurology, dermatology, and radioactive iodine treatment.

Schedule:

Sunday, Monday, Friday, and Saturday, 7:30am – 6pm.

• Medical support in the Surgery Department and collaboration with technicians and specialists
• Help keep the hospital stocked, clean and organized
• Assist doctors and staff with safely restraining animals of different sizes and breeds
• Room clients and obtain a medical history
• Walk dogs and obtain vitals
• Place IV catheters and obtain blood samples
• Run laboratory tests under oversight
• Provide SQ fluids and medications to patients with supervision
• Calculate and administer medications

• 1 year of experience in an animal-related field
• Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment
• Ability to work an alternative schedule given the nature of the Emergency department
• Commitment to developing long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
• Positive, friendly, team-oriented attitude
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to deliver exceptional client service
• Honesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun

Sunday, Monday, Friday, and Saturday, 7:30am – 6pm

$17/hr to $24/hr depending on skills, experience, and credentials
