The Registered Nurse Non-Acute functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population to achieve desired outcomes. This position focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. It directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination. It coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians and support services.
Intermittent coverage of Clifton location.
- A day in the life of a Registered Nurse Non-Acute at Hackensack Meridian Health includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Assessment: collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation; conducts age- and disease-specific data collection; recognizes clinical changes; identifies education needs based on age, disease, and learning differences.
- Plan: develops a plan of care with strategies and interventions to attain outcomes; formulates patient/family-centered goals based on assessment; coordinates a continuum of care.
- Implementation: communicates and implements the plan of care; maintains ongoing communication with patient/family and health care team; ensures timely, organized care; provides patient/family education; documents events; adheres to protocols; delivers care reflecting patient needs and evidence-based practice; performs continuous documentation; utilizes medication administration technologies; coordinates multi-disciplinary discharges.
- Evaluation: assesses progress toward outcomes; applies critical thinking to achieve outcomes; initiates interventions for changes in condition.
- Additional responsibilities: identify ethical issues, enhance patient satisfaction, maintain competencies and certifications, adhere to professional codes and organizational standards, lift and move as required, and undertake other duties as assigned.

: NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License; BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire.
