Controller, Management, Accounting Manager

Location: Avenel NJ

Compensation: $150,000-$180,000 with 15% bonus

Reports To: Vice President of Finance

• 📊 Oversee financial reporting, general ledger activities, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• 👥 Manage and develop teams within Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting
• 🧮 Serve as Subject Matter Expert in manufacturing cost accounting, providing insight on cost control and reporting
• 📦 Direct responsibility for inventory accounting in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
• 🧾 Ensure accurate financial statements and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
• 📈 Design and deliver financial reporting metrics following month-end close
• 🖥️ Act as ERP super-user (Epicor 10 / Epicor Kinetic), including system training and process optimization
• 🤝 Partner with corporate accounting teams to ensure consistency in reporting and reconciliations
• 🏦 Support the Vice President of Finance with daily banking activities, including positive pay processing
• 💡 Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy
• 🧠 Provide guidance on technical accounting topics (lease accounting, revenue recognition, etc.)
• 📋 Support budgeting and forecasting efforts in collaboration with leadership and key stakeholders
• 🎯 Set goals, manage performance, and support professional development of direct reports
• 🛠️ Support leadership with special projects, capital analysis, and workflow improvements

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior supervisory experience in financial reporting or general ledger
• Manufacturing and cost accounting experience
• CPA certification
• Master’s Degree (highly desirable)
• Experience with Epicor ERP (Epicor 10 / Kinetic)
• Experience with data modeling using SQL and Power BI
• Strong leadership, motivation, and team development skills
