Position: ASSTISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

ASSTISTANT GENERAL MANAGER – Compass Group USA / Rapport

Compensation
:
Salary $88,000 – $90,000 per year. Rapport is a specialized division of FLIK Hospitality Group, focused on guest and employee services, meeting and event planning, and conference center management. We do not engage in temporary contracts and offer long‑term career development with comprehensive benefits.

Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will be the primary point of contact and lead the Rapport team in Iselin, New Jersey, while providing operational oversight and leadership support for assigned regional locations, including New York, Boston, and Chicago. The AGM serves as the senior Compass Group representative on site, a key liaison across supported locations, and the direct conduit to the client and Resident District Manager (RDM).

Responsibilities include end‑to‑end oversight of workplace hospitality and conference services, coaching and developing managers, driving operational excellence, and fostering client relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage operations in Iselin, New York, Boston and Chicago offices, including reception, reservations, community management, conference coordination, and space‑management platform support.
  • Execute key objectives or client projects directed by the RDM.
  • Provide a high‑profile visual presence to build and retain strong relationships.
  • Maintain service standards and target audit scores.
  • Oversee team performance, including training, development plans, and regular reviews.
  • Build and maintain relationships with executive committee admins and high‑level clients.
  • Foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
  • Strategically book space within the system to maximize utilization.
  • Ensure Rapport policies, procedures, and values are followed and aligned with client expectations.
  • Champion development within the account; conduct performance evaluations, succession planning, and maintain full role knowledge.
  • Administer policies and procedures fairly and consistently.
  • Lead projects and initiatives related to Rapport lines of business.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of management experience, preferably in conference center, hotel operations, or hospitality management. Communications, event planning, or hospitality background preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading a business and a team, strong customer service, and solid business and financial acumen.
  • Strong initiative, critical thinking, ownership, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and remain organized.
  • Champion inclusion mindset; proactive, positive, professional, and resilient.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with reservation software platforms.
  • Catering or other food‑service experience.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Adaptability to change and flexibility in customer support.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel and reach. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
