Overview

Lead Cybersecurity Research Consultant (Contingent Worker) – Staff AI Engineer in Iselin, NJ. $76–$82 per hour.

• Serve as the primary technical authority on cybersecurity, including threat modeling, secure architecture, risk evaluation, and compliance.
• Provide expert consultation on complex engineering problems involving cross‑functional or unprecedented factors.
• Lead research on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors; convert findings into actionable security requirements for AI systems and engineering solutions.
• Develop and maintain data‑driven security frameworks (e.g., risk scoring models such as the Cyber Risk Rubric) to prioritize and triage risks.
• Partner closely with the Lead AI/ML Engineer to design experiments, validate model behavior, and evaluate security accuracy and robustness.
• Ensure cybersecurity principles and best practices are integrated across AI model development, testing, and deployment.
• Act as key liaison between the AI development team and broader cybersecurity organization, ensuring alignment with policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations.
• Mentor engineers and team members to build a strong security‑aware culture.

• 5+ years software engineering experience (or equivalent industry work, consulting, military service, technical training, or education).
