Entry Mobile Repair Technician - Wood River, IL

Trinity Rail is hiring an Entry Mobile Repair Technician at our Wood River, IL site. The role involves conducting railcar inspections, performing repairs, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and delivering exceptional customer service.

• Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance.
• Perform repairs as necessary using current repair procedures.
• Meet customer expectations to deliver an exceptional experience.
• Ensure accurate invoicing, inspection, and work order information.
• Participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
• Work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required.
• Monitor confined spaces and create hot work permits.
• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
• Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Complete all basic required onboard training in safety and quality.
• Learn major railcar components and basic functions.
• Work under the direct supervision of a Career Mobile Technician or higher.
• Use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required.
• May need specialized qualification and training in areas such as Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator/Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster, etc.
• Welding/Valve/mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is preferred.

• Ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function‑specific certifications, which may include tank car welding.
• Strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions.
