Position

Summary

The Quality Technician will support the day‑to‑day manufacturing operations across the various PSI production sites. Flexibility is critical to this role as you will work across stations, product lines, plants, and daily tasks. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: sorting products for defects, investigating, reporting, and resolving issues, performing investigations for quality issues, and carrying out engine repair and rework.

Responsibilities
  • Engine Diagnostics and Repair
    • Perform detailed diagnostics and troubleshooting of internal combustion engines to identify mechanical, electrical, or fuel‑related issues.
    • Repair engines, including disassembly, component inspection, replacement, and reassembly, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Quality Inspection and Testing
    • Conduct thorough inspections of engines at various stages of repair to ensure adherence to quality specifications and performance requirements.
    • Perform functional tests, such as compression tests, leak‑down tests, and dynamometer evaluations, to verify proper engine performance.
  • Defect Analysis and Reporting
    • Identify root causes of engine defects or failures and document findings in technical reports.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to address recurring quality issues and recommend design or process improvements.
  • Compliance and Standards
    • Ensure all repairs meet company and industry standards, including emissions, safety, and reliability guidelines.
    • Maintain compliance with ISO, OEM, or other applicable quality certifications and standards.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices.
    • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address recurring quality issues.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with assembly teams, quality engineers, and production supervisors to ensure seamless communication of quality‑related information.
    • Provide feedback on repair trends, part quality, and design improvements.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and test results in company systems or databases.
    • Update quality metrics and provide regular reports to the Quality Department or leadership.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience including
  • Ability to apply math (fractions, ratios, measurements) and to read, comprehend, and convert instruction manuals/diagrams into work.
  • Intermediate knowledge of internal combustion engine diagnostics.
  • Internally certified in‑process verification and detection testing systems; or the ability to become certified within 6 months.
  • Success as an assembler especially as demonstrated through flexibility/adaptability to a wide range of work responsibilities, effective problem solving with a focus on delivering results, mechanical aptitude with a range of power tools, and high reliability.
  • Communicates effectively with multiple functional teams, including providing documentation, to drive results and resolution of problems.
  • Tech savvy with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Willingness to travel and work across multiple local plant locations.
