Position OverviewRethink is a safety-first company, where your personal safety and that of your team is taken seriously. Rethink Electric is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to support and execute our safety program across all projects and operations. This individual will report directly to the Director of Safety and play a key role in driving day-to-day safety execution, ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing risk, and protecting the health and well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and clients.
The ideal candidate brings strong field-based safety experience within the construction or solar EPC industry and has a proven ability to implement safety programs across diverse job sites.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures across office, warehouse, and field operations.
- Support the Director of Safety in executing annual safety plans, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Conduct regular job site audits, safety inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Partner with project managers and field supervisors to support safe work planning and hazard mitigation.
- Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and onboarding safety orientations.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and assist in tracking KPIs and reporting.
- Support emergency preparedness planning and ensure job site safety protocols are followed.
- Partner with HR on workers’ compensation cases and assist with return-to-work coordination.
- Promote a culture of accountability and proactive hazard identification across all teams.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of safety experience in construction, electrical contracting, or renewable energy (solar EPC preferred).
- OSHA 500 certification preferred (OSHA 30 required).
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Experience conducting site audits, incident investigations, and safety training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- CSP, CHST, or other safety certifications preferred.
- Proficient in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel to project sites within Illinois and neighboring states.
