Role

As a D1 Driver, you will be responsible for driving minibuses with up to 17 seat capacity, ensuring adherence to road traffic legislation and passenger safety. Your role is crucial in safely transporting service users to various education establishments within and outside the city. You may occasionally drive without a passenger assistant and may also need to act as a passenger assistant when required.

Service users may include individuals of all ages with special needs.

• Drive passenger carrying vehicles in a safe and professional manner, prioritising road safety and passenger comfort.
• Conduct vehicle checks before each journey, ensuring roadworthiness and noting any defects.
• Ensure vehicles are equipped with appropriate seating, wheelchair tie-down systems, and passenger restraint apparatus.
• Assist service users in boarding, alighting, and transporting them safely.
• Enter service users' premises when necessary and ensure their welfare during transportation.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and promptly address any biological spillages.
• Document incidents, safety concerns, and other relevant information as required.
• Complete runs efficiently, considering specific requirements such as administration of medications and any road closures.
• Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and Equal Opportunities Policy.

• Category D1 Driving Licence (mandatory)
• Driver CPC certification (desirable)
• Excellent driving skills, prioritising passenger safety and comfort
• Ability to show empathy , respect, and customer focus towards service users with special needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
