Actuation Systems in Wolverhampton is seeking a Fitter Tester to join an established Aftermarket Mixed Military Legacy manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling/disassembling aircraft electrical and hydraulic actuators and flight controls per supplied drawings and process instructions. This includes working with Military legacy products, collaborating closely with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to support product release and delivery.
This is a shift-based role with some overtime required. Full training and support will be provided.
- Assemble/disassemble aircraft electrical and hydraulic actuators and flight controls per supplied drawings and process instructions.
- Identify proper and improper fits, alignments and condition of components.
- Ensure adherence to relevant quality procedures and standards.
- Follow route cards, work instructions and engineering drawings.
- Complete work orders and stamping.
- Perform basic measurement techniques and use hand gauging tools.
- Clean, protect and prepare parts.
- Highlight and declare non-conformances; support quality with disposition activity.
- Complete paperwork and system transactions for completed work.
- Support general team duties including 5S and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with EH&S procedures.
- Must be able to read engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics that identify and explain the function of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components.
- Proven problem solving skills and experience/exposure to lean manufacturing.
- Identifying non-conformances.
- Apprentice trained or time served (NVQ level
3) would be an advantage. - Ability to use hand and machine tools.
- Self-motivated.
- Able to work with little or no supervision.
- Proven ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Strong communications skills, both written and verbal a must.
- Basic computer skills are an asset.
