Altera Recruitment Group is looking to appoint a Plant Operator for a critical operational site in the West Midlands. The role of a Plant Operator plays a key part in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous production of steam through the monitoring and control of boilers and turbine systems.
Key Responsibilities of a Plant Operator
* Operate and oversee boiler and turbine systems to ensure consistent and optimal plant performance.
* Monitor plant conditions through control systems, instruments, and gauges, responding appropriately to deviations or alarms.
* Accurately record operational data, readings, and shift activities to support continuity and compliance.
* Respond effectively to both planned maintenance activities and unexpected operational issues or emergency situations.
* Support wider plant operations, including waste handling, housekeeping, and assisting with ancillary plant duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience or practical knowledge of boiler and steam turbine operations within an industrial environment.
* A strong understanding of process monitoring, control systems, and operational safety protocols.
* Experience operating plant-related equipment such as forklifts or loading shovels (certification advantageous).
* Willingness and ability to work at height, in confined spaces, and across varying plant environments.
* A proactive approach to health and safety, with the ability to follow procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.
