About The Big Phone StoreWe are one of the UK’s fastest-growing consumer technology refurbishers, and our Wolverhampton technical centre is experiencing record demand. To support our continued expansion, we’re looking for highly skilled refurbishment technicians to join our advanced device processing line.
The RoleYou will work within our display restoration unit, specialising in the refurbishment of modern smartphone screens. This includes high-precision tasks such as optical bonding, layer separation, glass renewal and display module reconstruction (previously known as re-lamination or reglassing). This is a performance-driven, high-volume environment where accuracy and consistency are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Restore and rebuild smartphone display modules through advanced refurbishment processes (e.g., optical bonding, layer separation, glass renewal).
- Operate within a structured, multi-stage production line to meet quality and output targets.
- Provide support, guidance, and hands‑on training to less experienced technicians.
- Lead small groups and carry out quality validation on completed units.
- Communicate effectively with team leaders (clear written and spoken English required).
- Contribute ideas for improving workflow efficiency, tooling, and output consistency.
- Prior experience in device display refurbishment, optical bonding, mobile device repair, or electronics restoration.
- Confidence handling one or more stages of a technical, step-based refurbishment process.
- Strong attention to microscopic detail and pride in precise workmanship.
- Ability to mentor, train, or motivate junior members of the team.
- A reliable, team-oriented attitude with a focus on quality and improvement.
- £30,000 – £55,000, depending on technical capability and ability to train others.
- Clear pathways to senior technician and team leadership roles.
We may consider Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship, but only for candidates who already demonstrate strong, proven experience in advanced display refurbishment and the ability to lead or train others.
